Question habitat temp????

Should I have the thermometer probe on the ground in the enclosure or should it be suspended? Obviously the closer it is to the UTH the higher the temp will be but do I want to measure the floor temp or the average air temp?? Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Mark

if you wanna measure the air temp suspend it but if your trying to get the basking spot than put the probe right in the middle of the light.

Probes are best used to measure the ground temp. Get a cheapo wall thermometer to measure the air temp.

I agree with Rev, temp guns are invaluable. Point at hot basking spot to measure that temp, point at an area on the cool side to get your ambient temp

If you have a digital thermometer, place the probe on the substrate to guage the basking spot temp, and hang it in the air on the cool side to measure the ambient temp.
