Infared temp gun on sale at radio shack

Just thought I would make everyone aware (although I dont know if its valid in Canada.

Its normaly $50 (US) on sale for $29.99 (US) I just picked mine up yesterday. It reads withing 1/2 second, and they claim its good up to 400 degrees F. Although last night I found out that isnt true.

As soon as I got home I checked the temps of all my geckos and snakes tanks.

And then I used it to check the over, so I knew when to put my Tombstone Pizza in. It reads up to at least 417 degrees

I went to radio shack on my lunch break to find out more info on these temp guns. I decided not to buy one cause they don't take air reading the take surface readings. Plus i had the guy pull one out and we tested it. They wern't very accurate.

To measure the ambient temp in tanks, just measure the unheated surface on the cool side of the enclosure I wouldn't trade my temp gun for the world. I got mine at Crappy Tire in the auto department. Has a much further range then the radio shack one that comes in handy... it measures more than 20 feet away. My cat loves the laser too.....lol Such an invaluable tool for herpers. That's a great price too!

seems pretty accurate to me. it claims it can be like +/- 5 degrees. but I have found that it is always within a degree of the thermometers reading.

but for 30 bucks, I figured I couldnt go wrong.

Maybe then the one he showed me was off cause we did 3 test readings on 4 different surfaces and every temp was different.

Linds what kind is yours and how much did it run you?

I think this is the one Linds is talking about. It costs C$160. I was looking for the Radio Shack model a while back, but unfortunately it is not sold in Canada.
