Cleaning a used tank

I bought vinegar, but I don't have any peroxide, but I do have bleach. I have a used tank that i bought that I'm going to clean to use.

How do I do this? Can I use a 10% bleach solution to clean, rinse with water, then rinse with vinegar? I want to make sure its clean and non toxic.

Sorry sorry sorry all. I just read another thread, and I guess I'm not going to use bleach. I'm just going to go to the store and buy some peroxide to use with the vinegar.

There is nothing at all wrong with using bleach, as long as you rinse it with saltwater. (This is the same thing I recommend when soaking driftwood.) The salt dilutes the chlorine. I've cleaned many tanks using 10% bleach, and never had a problem.

Ive used bleach quite a few times.. If you cannot smell the chlorine after use, its fine... Just have to rinse it very well, Bleach is some harsh stuff, but that is also a good thing when dealing with nasty germs.. Just give it a good rinse, Never tried it but iam sure invictus's method works, sounds like it would. Thanks for the tip btw invictus.

I'd stick with the peroxide and vinegar. Peroxide is cheap, I get mine for 99 cents CDN at WalMart. Not only is it 100% non-toxic to your snakes, vinegar/peroxide has been proven to kill more germs than bleach Just goes to show, sometimes harsher isn't better

well I used Bleach diluted 25% to 75% water
once all is done (cleared) I use 100% vinegar in a spray bottle
and spray it generously all over (do that out door...)
cuzz acid + bleach = neutralising = fumes
than just rince with garden hose all those stuff
