Help Please

Hi Two weeks ago i got a Colombian Boa baby from Reptile HQ it has ate twice. a live pinky and a f/t hopper no problem but today as I was holding it a liquid started to come out of her mouth and I noticed that she would open her mouth and stretch it. She did fall off her perch and hit her side. but I don't know. The liquid smells like poop ( I think thats the only way I can describe it)

Does anyone know what could be wrong? I do not want it to die. I love mai snakes

It sounds like regurgitation. Her disorientation is also a problem. Get the snake to a vet IMMEDIATELY.

okay, it is wierd cuz she has been doing great before this she likes her hiding place alot and has been coming out of it a lot and moving around going to her water bowl and laying it it and drinking. i will find a vet that works with snakes. I kinda think she fell cuase she stretched out farther then she could hold up. My ball Pythons do the same thing or used too.

Snakes all lose their balance occasionally and that in itself is now big deal. Same goes for burst of activity, they come and go for a bunch of reasons, temperature, hunger and who knows what else. The same can be said for regurgitation to a point. Snakes will regurgitate for different reasons, such as prey being too big for example and it may mean nothing at all. It can also mean there is something really wrong. I would just keep an eye on it and for sure if it regurgitates again take it to the vet if you can afford it.

You do know to wait before feeding agian (I believe they say 10 to 14 days) after a regurge.I had a female Dumeril do that once I picked her up and a clear liquid came out of her mouth, I got a hold of a guy that knows Dums he said it sounded like she had drunk to much water. Sounds funny but I never had it happen agian so I don't know. You might want to check your temps agian also. Good luck with her!

I also had that happen with a Dumerils years ago, I bought it off a guy and when I got it home liquid started to come out of its mouth. I left her alone and she was fine, no puke. I think its from to much water and handling too soon after a meal. Keep an I on the snake and if your still worried or unsure go to the vet as Invictus said.

thats it!
I held it right after she ate. then after I remembered not to, don't know why I did handle it. i don't handle my two ball pythons after they have ate. well don't even touch em for at least 3 or 4 days. and the boa's water bowl is filled with clean water every other day so there is lots of water.

Thanks for all the help. and She seems to be fine now but will keep a eye or two on her

I have not had normal baby colombian boas in over 4 months. I'm 1000% sure you have our identity mixed up with someone else. Let me inform you of something on our policy here at Reptile HQ:

1. EVERY animal from this store leaves here in 110% good health.

2. We have never sold a mite with one of our snakes.

3. Every animal that leaves this facility is a routine feeder, and DOES NOT REGURGE. I have never sold a non-feeding snake or other non-feeding reptile to anyone.

I hope you correct yourself and that it was a simple mistake in identity. I would also like an apology for you discrediting my store in an open forum, mistake or not.

On my last trip to Toronto, I had the opportunity to stop in and see Chris for a bit, and it was quite refreshing to see how the animals were cared for. Not at all what I expected... not even a damn fingerprint on the glass anywhere... errr... until I got there! lol!

Well i am sorry Chris I forgot that u do not usually sell Colombians and I did not mean to " Discredit" your store, and I did not mean it was sick, it is fine now okay? and the dude, Matt I think his name was was an excellent person in dealing with, even drove 3 hours to where I live to get the snake to me.
I am sorry you toke what I said so harshly, I was not saying any thing in malace, was just explaining stuff and did not want to go into the long version.

On another note

grey droppings usually mean a snake has parasites right?

2. There is no one named Matt that works here. The only person who works here with me, does not have a licence.

Which store did you buy the snake from??

Think...cause it was not from here, and when you figure it out, I would like an apology.

As for the "drooling"
its typical for a snake to do that when handled shortly after a big drink of water.
its basically the same process of a regurge, but with water.
it also usually comes out a little thicker then when it went in.
i know the first time i experienced it, i was worried.
If it happens again, just put it back in its enclosure and dont bother it.

Grey feces isn't neccesarily a sign of parasites.
Its more common in small snakes then it is in larger ones.
a simple fecal float at the vets will give you the answer to your question.
