Looking to get torts

I am looking to get a pair of torts. I was thinking red/yellow foots or Russians.

I have available for houseing a 4'long 2'wide 2'tall Cage with Sliding glass doors. I will likely remove the doors are there is a 3" lip at the bottom I can raise it if need be but this way they will get plenty of circulation. Heat light at one end and about 1/4 water area (size can be changed it is only a large container.

Just wondering what would thrive in here ? I want a pair not just one but I could settle on one if this is two small. Also they would be able to get out for more room to run around on a regular basis.

Just looking for Ideas and links to good care sheets

Thanks

A cage that size'll do you good for a few years with a red/yellowfoot. After that they're going to require MUCH more space. Some yellow foots I've seen are HUGE! You might wanna try something a little smaller like a Russian or one of the European testudos. A well acclimated hingeback could also be an idea.

Yeah I can not have anything that gets HUGE I need something that gets no bigger then a dinnerplate and that would even be pushing it.

If you're looking to get something on the small side I would definitely NOT recommend a yellow-foot. The red foots are borderline. Most of the adults I've seen are bigger than your average dinner plate. The Russian tortoise is small personable and fairly hardy if they're acclimated. The russian is probably the best small sized beginner tortoise.

i have a russian tortoise and its deffinetly my fav of all my animals Mine has incredible temperment..wouldnt hurt a fly..and they dont get much bigger than 8-10 inches which is exactly what your looking for. Im not sure about that tank being good for there whole life because mine tort is only 4 inches so he is being kept for now in a 40 gallon tank. There great though but there reletivly expensive..i got mine for 200 but that doesnt come around to often..they usually go for 400 but i bet if you told someone you would buy two they could give it to you for like 600 for a pair.
