RIP: Lucifer
Well I came home today...went to my bedroom only to find my bed room door open...and dirt all over my floor....lucifer's tank had been knocked over by my dad's dog...Lucifer is no where in site...Im guessing the dog got ahold of him...Turns out my dad let sampson (the rottweiller) in my room while he was looking for the spare keys to the Impala...anyways if he is alive...how could I find him?

that really sucks. look in all the warm places, dark places, under clothes, sheets, dressers. if he's in your room, that's probably where he'll be.

Look in the place where you would least expect to find him or the place where you don't think he could possibly be. Good luck and I hope you find him.

I seriously doubt Ill be able to find him...my room is about 28x32ft ...so its a rather large space...and 75 is covered...I also have two walk in closets and a bathroom...so he could be anywhere.....Im afraid to say but Ill be giving up by tomorrow...I guess Ill buy another monitor...thinking about a half grown Sav or a nile in the 2ft range...

Don't despair.
If the lizard was warm enough, it had the speed to get away. It can get into the tiniest places, whereas the dog cannot. A room affords many many hiding places, especially from a blunt headed easily distracted dog. Most dogs lose interest if they can't see it (unlike cats, who will persist until they make a kill).
You can be prepared for the loss, but don't be the least surprised to see it basking on something a month from now. Trust it to not move for the next week, its had quite a fright. Be careful when moving things around for the next few months, or you might squish him.
Sorry you lost him.
D.

if it was anything like my parents rotti, he may have a chance, i find rottis need a brain for their back end so it can be controlled better....always seems to be bouncing into things, especially when they are excited, dont give it up yet.....i have a huge huge old farmhouse ( i dont even have enough furniture yet to fill it...)and i had a baby cornsnake escape from the top floor and we found it in the basement.....so its not impossible if its ok
i'll keep my fingers crossed.....

Keep the door closed, cover any cracks search ever crevice, any small area! chances are its ok, the dog probably ran off when the tank hit the ground, and the lizard scurried away. Monitors are pretty easy to find if they escape, they are incredibly active, espeacially when temperatures rise. Raise the temps a bit, you'll find him if the dog didnt. Best of luck.

If your dog got him you would likely have found a dead lizard by now. Even if it got away and was too injured and died somehwere in your house you would smell it. You could try getting a large clear plastic container and placing it in the middle of the room with a ladder to get in, but make sure its too tall for your sav to jump out of. Put a bunch of crickets in there and wait. Please do not give up on your monitor... you took on the sav, his life is in your hands, its your resposnibility to do everything in your power. Turn the place upside down and all around if you have to.
