55g Transfer

Hello everyone, I am new here and was wondering if I could get some input on a dilemma I have? I currently have a 55g tank not in use and wish to purchase a Mali Uromastyx. The dimentions of this tank are .

48"long by

13"wide by

20"high

I was going to turn it on its side and remove the glass then place it on the top. So if you are as confused as I am....... now the dimentions will be

48"long

20" wide

13" high

Should I just leave the tank as is or turn it on its side?
My brother suggested that there would be a heat transfer problem with it on its side and I am not sure about it for comfort issue with is on its own! The Mali will just have to wait until I have a nice enough home for him. I wish I could afford to buy a brand new one, but don't we all.

If I was to win the lottery and could go and purchase a new tank, what size would you recommend?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Thanks for your replies Azr@k & Chantal. I think that I am just going to throw the thing right out the window.......The way it is now is the way it is going to stay. Maybe I will build something for the Mali and use the 55g for fish or a snake.

Thanks again!
