BRB info???

Hi all I'm jumping forums trying to decide what my next reptile will be so that I can start my research but this is the biggie. This is the snake i like the best lol and I was wondering if anyone had any big secrets that you can't get off of a good care sheet.

There are no real secrets to them really. They are a pretty hardy speciese just don't keep them in an open top tank and keep humid and not too hot, between 85-88 works great for me.

Just like Trevor said, they aren't difficult snakes to keep. Just keep em cool and wet. Being swamp snakes they are practically impervious to scale rot and the like, so maintaining humidity is easy, unlike some other species that need dry substrate and humid conditions. Rubbermaids and wet newspaper work fine well. Tanks are not suitable for these snakes! I find they do well with a temperature gradient of 76-86 degrees. No real secrets to them. As long asd the basics get met, they are super hardy.

Yeah I had some trouble getting my male to start feeding when I first got him, but once I did he has never stopped...unless they are in shed my male or female WILL not eat, which is no big deal, and after having them for just over a year both are only starting to strike out at the prey...I keep both in rubbermaids with a heat pad underneath on one side, newspaper and a waterdish...I try to keep humidity at about a minimum of 80% Very beautiful snakes, I don't bother with a hide because they don't use it, they both borrow underneath the newspaper, and I rarely find them on the warm side amazingly enough. Can't wait until my male and female (whose names are Mulder and Scully) are ready to mate! Hopefully get some georgeous babies!

I keep mine on coconut husk! with a rock hide spot (no wood because it molds in high humidity 80%) they are awsome snakes never had a feeding problem or nothing. I dont use a hide box because i keep the humidity high. I use a screen top with a piece of plexi glass on top to keep the humidity up.

nothin more than HIGH humidity and not too hot temps,
damp hidebox, big waterbowl, I find them pretty easy to keep though, but not for beginners...

What are your temps? Perhaps your snakes are trying to tell you something. Maybe try lowering the hot spot a little. Maybe that is why they are also giving you feeding issues, BRB are typically voracious feeders.
