Talking i'm SO in love!

so this morning, i got a phone call from my cousin, asking if i was still interested in getting a beardie... the answer, obviously was OF COURSE! and so this evening i find myself adding another pet to the roster..

he's SO tiny... (well, not that tiny, but still). i find it hard to believe that he ( i don't know that he's actually a he, we're just kinda going with it) is going to get big. what's the average size they'll get up to?
and one more question... he's about 5.5 inches long... how old would he be?

i'm amazed at the character he has, and he's SO amusing when he eats... he'll walk around behind his chosen cricket, stalking it for a couple of minutes before he actually eats it. and i already have more than 25 digital pix of him... i'm like those crazy grandparents that have a million pictures of their grandchildren in their wallets. but i LIKE it.

i would never have believed that a reptile could be so engaging and friendly and GOSH DARN cute. i think i'm addicted...

A GREAT BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED ME OUT... your advice was invaluable, and i'm SO happy with my choice.

I would have to say that beardies have some of the best personalities of all reptiles, i had two that i watched for my boss and they were sooo fun and cool to have. I would love to own some but i am a little wrapped up with my reptiles at the moment. Dont want to overdue myself.

Best of luck with them tho.

S/he's probably pretty young at that size, but it's tough to guess with any accuracy because beardies have a pretty wide range of sizes and growth rates. A very rough estimate is 2 to 6 weeks old. They average about 16-19 inches in total length but sometimes you get tiny guys who never even make it to a foot long and sometimes you get 26 inch giants.

Beardies can really send you over the rainbow, they are soooo engaging and funny and personable. They are one of my favorites and I never get tired of meeting new lizards. I wish you and your new pet many happy years together and hope you post a lot of pictures and stories of your new friend.
