Emily attacked by Rob's pitt bull!
Yesterday, both Emily and myself went to Robert's place (from Arachnomania) to take pictures of his tarantulas for his new website. Little did we know that we should fear another beast instead of the hundreds of tarantulas, scorpions and other creepy crawlers.
Everything seemed to be fine when poor unsuspecting Emily got "tagged" for the first time. Happened so fast that she didn't know what hit her... Needless to say we were all shocked and thankfully it wasn't that bad.
But then it happened again...

Robert's pitt bull has to be the sweetest one I've ever seen! Attack of the kisses and "play with me and pet me!"
Apparently "Damon" is 6 years old but she acts like a puppy of barely 6 months old. Too cute! I was quite impressed at how well trained she is, listening to Robert and his girlfriend Robyn very well.

What a cutie! I know they have a bad reputation, and many ppl have had run-ins with bad pit bulls, but every one I've met so far has been soooo sweet. How adoreable.

My roommate and I were just talking about pit bulls yesterday...they can be really sweet dogs by nature; the ones that attack people are often *trained* to be aggressive, and these violent dogs usually enforce the breed's reputation as an attack dog.

I have very stong feeling against Pits. But this is not the forum for that. Glad that one is a sweetie

Oh man had me scared for a minute there! Bah! LOL those are cute pics, specially love the look on the last pic  No doubt a sweetie, every single one I have ever met was nothing more than a big, playful suck. Their "aggression" that is so feared, is typically towards other animals. Actually I was just watching the news the other day, segment on a child that got attacked by a pit (seriously though, if I was a dog I would've probably attacked a kid too... they are always pulling, pinching, hitting, screaming, etc...poor puppies don't know what to do and parents shouldn't leave their kids unattended), they showed a few reports from different states. ALL reports showed that the top two dogs that attacked people (and these are just the ones serious enough to be reported), were German Shepherds and Labs. Shepherds no doubt make the first, they don't think for themselves which is why they are so highly trainable and make great police dogs. Labs are considered family dogs... maybe this is another indication thats its the situation, not the dog. People feel safe with these dogs around their kids, who are most likely bugging the puppies  Either way, both types of dog are so accepted in society, then you have pits which seem to be shunned more often than not

I'd like to see the statistics you got for that conclusion Linds.... If you think about it, there are probably far more labs in circulation than there are pitts, so of course theyre will be more recorded dog bites etc.. But not every bite is an attack, some people are just stupid when their dog bites them playing..
I would own a lab over a pitt any day. Rottweillers are misunderstood due to their size, pitts are small, aggressive, unpredictable...... just another story.

Pittbulls get a lot of bad press because of 2 reasons (IMO). One is the severity of attacks. They have incredible bite strength and tenacity. They can literally rip you to shreds if they attack. Two is crappy owners. Some macho-men think it's cool to own a big viscious dog, so they raise them that way. I love all dog breeds, but have seen a lot of dangerous individual animals (and owners). PBs and rottis dont seem any more likely to be dangerous than most large breeds, but are more dangerous when aggressive than many breeds.
That's a beautiful dog though. I wish I had room for a canine.
