Question Lighting help??

This is going to be a long post so I apologize in advance.
My baby bp will be here tomarrow. I've been tinkering all weekend with the temps in her tank. The warm end won't get warm enough with just uth so I am going to have to use lighting. I have all the necessary equipment: clip lamp with metal hood, 75 watt incandescent bulb, a repti heat black light bulb for night time, and the rheostat will be finished this afternoon. Right now the lamp is positioned about 2 and a half to 3 feet above the warm end of her tank and I'm waiting for the temps to show right now. Any advice or tips would be such a help! Thanks again!

Here is my advice...

Make sure you are measuring the temp right on the floor over the UTH. Don't worry about the night light...it's OK to use it if you want to though. If the temps are a little cooler at night...that's OK. Put the day light on a timer, they are inexpensive and make things easy.

i have a day and night light, but I don't use a timer...I just fit them into my daily ruitine. When I wake up, I unplug the night light. It cools while I shower, and when I come out, I plug in the day light. After dinner, I unplug the day light, let it cool while I check my email, and then plug in the night light. This is also because I only have one clamp, tho, so...
