bd sexually maturity

Hi all.....

My brother just bought a couple of female bd's. He already has a male that is 3 years old. The two females are 10 months old.

He currently has the male and females separated.

He needs some advice. When are the females sexually mature?

The male is also larger than the two females. I know this is a no-no with leopard geckos until they are relatively close in size. Anyone know about bd's?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been reading that beardies are sexually mature at 8 or 9 months. Not sure about the size though.

Beardie female can be sexually mature at 8 month but I've read on quite a few caresheet that it's better to wait till they're 11-12 month old, depending on their weight. Also, the size could be a problem, a big male could hurt a female, even more if she's not quite ready to breed. If he plan introduce them anyway, I'ld watch very closely if the female seem to receptive to the male.

Thanks u 2 for your replies....my advice to my brother is to introduce slowly and watch them like crazy. The size difference is not that large now. I think I would like to see him wait until the females are 11 or 12 months.

All I can say....lucky male LOL

Do not breed the females until they are at least 7 inches from tip of nose to vent. Only put the male and female together when you want them to mate. After they do, seperate them, keep them seperate. Do a search on Google.com for Bearded Dragon care. Should find some good info.
