Repti-por

When I bought my leos the person who sold them to me included a bottle of repti-por. I haven't used it just cuz I don't trust it and I'd rather just take out the gecko waste by hand (which I do daily). It says it's safe and it also says "When sprayed on residual organic matter, Repti-POR breaks down waste and reduces odors." Does anyone use this for their leos? Can I use it to disenfect the hides and dishes?

Martin

sorry haven't heard of it. Regular cage cleanings should do the trick. None of my leos stink nor the cage.

I used it for cleaning a large cage containing a large colubrid. I found it worked very well, but I also found a product virtually identical for less than 1/2 the price.

For leos, I think its unnecessary. I've never had to resort to measures like that for cleaning their cages. A little soap and water with the occasional bleach rinse works fine. You still have to removed their droppings, you can't simply spray them away.

ReptiPor is intended for use on any residue left in the cage, not the waste itself. I think you were sold the item to keep you on the hook for extra products down the road. Use it up with normal cage cleaning and don't buy it again. Make sure you rinse after applying it, I don't care what the label says. Anything that smells that strong can't be good for the gecks in a closed environment.
