Buying new corns.

After reading The Corn Snake Manual and doing some research on the web I must admit I am pretty confused. From what I understand a breeding corn should be at least 3 feet in length. I'd like to breed them next breeding season but I don't know what size I should buy now so that it will likely be the right size next year. Any suggestions? I'm in Ottawa, are there any nearby breeders?

Oh, and I don't mind if they're already adults, although I think I'm more likely to get juveniles.

Thanks,
Martin

you will want something around 300 grams for a female, males mostly just need to be 18 months of age. Less than 300 gr for a female wouldn't be very healthy 400-600 grams even better. Age and length are poor measures to determine breedability.

Hey Rev. Is 300g your cut off mark for whether or not you put a female into a project?
Cheers,

mostly, I really prefer 350 minimum, usually once they quit eating and finally get around to laying they may have lost up to 100-130 grams so I wouldn't ever bred smaller than 300 gr.

the bigger female, the better. i think if you have a big female, the clutches are bigger too aren't they?
