Question "Can O Worms"

Okay I'm going to open a can of worms here so to speak. Now before I get jumped on this is just a question!

Why is Queensnake Banned here? Is it just because they are a competitor to our Boss Jeff? Or is there something else? Just curious.

I have asked this long ago and many many many since then have also asked. If you look in the search I am sure you will find the answer you are looking for.

Yup. We never had anyone banned in the beginning, but they banned us, and in fact, banned several people from their site just for merely mentioning sSnakeSs.com It didn't have to be that way, but if they want to force people to take sides, well...

Personally I think it's stupid. We still talk about them, we still link to them, it just causes us more trouble when we have to fill in the blanks. Therefore, the only thing it is affecting is us, right? I mean we all know who we are talking about when we say 'the other site' so i just dont see the point.

I have been using K---Snake for a while now and just came across this site and I have to say, this site RULES. I just finished my website and wanted to post on KS to let everyone know and there is no forum that allows it? I posted in the Boa forum and a couple others and all my posts were deleted. I broke their rules without knowing it. Well, I also posted a thread in this forum and got very nice responses from several people with lots of people viewing my site. Thanks ssnakess. You will get all my advertising money when the time comes!!

i don't see why it would be banned. reason being, it isn't as good as this one. the discussions are few and far between. I find it less active and less personal. I find this to be more of a "community" site, while the ohter one is more of a reference only site. anyone else get that? I was using the other one for a year or more and couldn't tell you anyone's name. I've been here a year and know so many people by name, and even talk to some outside and on msn messenger (lordkovacs@hotmail.com to add me!!!) In sum, I don't think ssnakess is in competition with them cause they serve a different purpose...a different means. And, I like that this has a healthy does of Canadiana on it too (more of a personal thought though). anyone agree?
cheers...

Currently teach at a private school in St. Catherines, ONT. Have a fiancee named Anna. been together for 4.5 years.
apologies to those that didn't want to see my bio...just proving that I would never do this on that "other" site.
cheers.

The interface alone on KS is stupid. At least Jeff took the time to get some real PHP forum software.

Yes lordkavacs I agree. Alot more canadian people here. And usually when I try to talk to people from canada they call me names, and ignore me. There are so many people from canada that can help me with my herps! I don't see alot of people from the states here. But I'm just glad no one ignores me simply because I'm not from canada! This is the best site! KS like someone else said is more of a reference site. This one is more interactive and you can get real answers from people who actually use them....(like mist 3 times daily to help shed, or whatever else).........Like I said, this site is THE best, and so are the people!

i agree about the canadian thing. Not anything against americans but soooo many things are american based, its nice to have something of our own. all the other forums i use are american based (other topics though) and its so hard to ask canadian specific advice, esp when it comes to costs and locational info

exactly raven...that's what I was getting at. actual canadian classifieds that people actually post on, local species...I was even able to speak about the Toronto Rolling Stones concert in the general board and people either went or knew what I was talkinga about. when I first came here I thought it was an american site which just happened to have a lot of canadian content. I thought hey, this is different. then I found out it was Canadian.

Glad to have so many americans, british, and australians here too. they can shed light on native habitats etc. for example I was talking to an Aussie the other day about the habitat of the Irian Jaya Carpet Python, and he was able to explain it better since Irian Jaya is so close to Australia...stuff like that.
Welcome all!

Mike
