To do close ups your camera has to have a macro mode. Check your manual for the macro mode and you'll see if it can do it.

The best camera for macro in a moderate price range... 4 - 500$ US would be the Nikon Coolpix 950.... IMO...

Yes I'm sure
Ease-of-Use
The D-380 is easy for anyone to use. It's fully automatic features allow everyone to be a pro the first time they photograph with the camera. Multi-mode flash, auto white balance and digital ESP metering ensure beautiful pictures at the touch of a button. Very fast shutter release times with virtually no shutter lag time also compliment the product. < Close up Macro photography is possible at distances as close as 9.8 inches >

I use the Canon Powershot A40 and am quite happy with the pics it takes. I don't even have any of the additional lenses you can get for macro shots. All Canon cameras are the little flower, but I don't know what the other makes are. I paid $499 CDN for mine, and it has gone down in price since then. Its super easy to operate as well. Here are a fwe of my favourite macro shots, ther are more in my gallery.

Yes, you should be able to find it for $200 USD or less. Stores are trying to get rid of their existing inventory as this camera has been replaced by the A70. I don't have experience with the A40 but I do own the A70 and it is the best camera I have ever seen/used in the price range.
Cheers,
RMB
