Do you breed snakes?
Curious how many people here breed them. I know there is a breeders forum, but there is alot more traffic here.
What was the first snake you bred?
Easiest breed to....breed?
What is your opinion on the overall experience? Is it rewarding? Easy/hard/enjoyable? Is it hard to sell the babies?
Im considering trying my hand at it, and just want to get some peoples opinions.

House Snakes, red-bellied snakes and then Irian Jaya Carpet Python
Easiest breed to....breed?
Probably corn snakes, those eggs can handle anyway.
What is your opinion on the overall experience?
I loved it! Babies are toooo cute!
Is it rewarding?
You bet
Easy/hard/enjoyable?
Depends on the species, and yes always enjoyable.
Is it hard to sell the babies?
Once again depends on the species, but usually it isn't too hard.

I have only breed my corn snakes for the first time and the first clutch just hatched this weekend. Incubation was very easy.
So far the experince is well worth it. The babies are so cute, it takes me back to when i bought my 2. I don't know about selling them yet but i'm sure it won't be too hard. If i cant sell to individual people then i have a petstore already agreeing to buy all of them.

Yes, very rewarding! If you have the option do it. I am still very green to breeding and hope to produce rattlesnakes and cottonmouths this coming year.

i would think corns to be the easiest... they are very hardy, as are their eggs.

I haven't bred anything yet, but I'll be starting with kenyans and corns. Corn eggs, like the snakes themselves, are SO forgiving with environment. I've heard of successful corn snake incubations at little more than 70% humidty. This would kill a python egg in an hour, from what I've heard from others. And of course, the Kenyans give live birth, so nothing to incubate there.

Zoe, I'm very curious to know how you bred red bellied snakes?
Where did you get the adults? How did you start the babies? Do you pictures?
I didn't know anyone actually worked with those guys. Neat!

First snakes bred - corn snakes
Easiest to breed - Kenyan sand boas
Opinion - it never gets boring
You can't really generalize too much since some species breed totally different from other species.

i only breed corns,leos,bp's as of now but in the past i have bread RTB's, Beardid dragons, Hognose, Albino garters,Dumrils boas and a few other small speciac
the over all easist snake was corns and the easist lizard were leos
it was very rewarding to no that i am responsible for the eggs hatching and it came me a since of confidenve
it is very fun but somtimes hard

I am a year or two away from any breeding plans ( I hope that doesn't apply to my personal life too).
Seriously, I have the time for the snakes that I have but taking on the responsibilty for more snakes and then incubation is not possible right now. I'm being realistic.
Who knows what the future holds though?
