Try getting both a gerbil and a rat, and then rubbing the rat all over the gerbil and feeding the gerbil-scented rat to the snake. Man, that was a lot of animals mentioned in one sentence...

My snake is the same way. Try and dangle a gerbil in front of her and when she's getting ready to go for it quick replace it with a prekilled rat. She should just go for the rat, If not try it again, dangle the gerbil again and then quick take it away again and use the rat. It's working on my snake and she's been stuck on gerbil's for a whole year now. hope it works for you to.

Or here's another version of lilyskips idea....instead............it's grosser to! Ok, Here goes. kill the gerbil, rub the fur on the rat, then split or poke or somehow draw blood from the gerbil, and rub it on the rat......(of course use gloves) but the snake may go on the gerbil blood/fur smell and eat it....or you could start small and get live rat pups and go up, and start stunning them as they get bigger.....Good luck....

this is how I got a catrpet I was working with to switch from mice to rats.
I kiled a mouse and feed it to the snake and then when it was almost all gone I stuck the rat in its mouth cause he thaught it was still the mouse and kept eating then after it was all down I waited a few minutes and oferd a dead rat only and bam he took it like it was nothingand after that another.
So for you I would use a small gerbil and 2 small rats just to give it the feal of rats so one gerbil dead on rat stuck to the but when you see the gerbil is almost gone and one more rat to see if it will take it wilingly.
do that for a month and then only offere rats till it chooses to eat if it dosent eat for a month so be it just start over with the gerbil and rat thing but I doubt it will go to that extent.

Lol sapphire--I had trouble braining a rat pinkie...I think pulling a maiming is beyond my skill level. Sounds like it would be more effective than rubbing them together, though. hehe.
