Cage Height

I am thinking of upgrading my BP's enclosure. It is currently 36" long, 24" deep, and 17" tall.

I was looking at the precision caging, but I wonder what the requirements are on height. All of theirs are 13" high. Is that high enough? My BP already stands all the way up and pokes at the top of her current enclosure.

Thanks!!

That should be high enough. They are ground snakes not tree snakes...I was also looking at precision caging, and not to beat on them or anything but their hinges are only "glued" on....I am way to paranoid to think about one of my snakes getting out in the middle of the night be cause one of the hinges fell off! But other than that they did say that if it falls off they will replace it. And they do look like excellent cages...You might want to contact them to see if they will take one of their original cages and make it taller, and see how much that would cost......

balls are terrestrial snakes and I wouldn't get it a really tall cage but a bit of height is o.k. The more space for them to cruise around in and get excercise. Keep in mind they are clumsy and don't grip things like arboreal snakes do so if its too tall it can fall and potentially hurt itself.
I'm in the process of building a cage the same size as your current cage Wrath..... and you're upgrading?...wow I thought I was spoiling my snake!

Yeah, I think she has a good size enclosure already. However, I have an alterior motive. Hehe. I need to use the tank for my potential Sudan lizard, so I am doing some planning. Besides, there is not enough horizontal space in this tank for me to provide a second hide box, among other designing ideas. This more than works for now. It seems like she gets restless in there, doing her little laps and everything. I guess if I get a longer one it wont matter that it's shorter in height.

My bp is in a 36"l x 16"w x 20"h. There is a branching piece of wood velcroed to the floor that reaches the top of the tank and she spends a lot of time in it. So although they are terrestrial they (at least mine) seem to enjoy a bit of height. I'm hoping to have a new enclosure built within the next year that will be 72"l x 24"w x 24"h. This way if she wants to climb a little she can.
