Wow, what neat patterning. I've never been a huge fan of the heavy-bodied snakes, but when I see pictures like this, I start to get more and more of an affinity for them.

No...but I do want to breed them so that other people can come to enjoy how beautiful & amazingly different this locality type of short-tailed pythons can be!

Stay in touch with me & I will let you know if and when babies are available. Exporting them shouldn't be a problem (knock on wood).

Congrats on the Sarawaks klg!
Make sure to keep the most burnt orange screamer babies as id like to see that trait in sarawaks show up more in there offspring!
Goodluck, cooling is just around the corner!!

If you're not a blood/STP nut, then it's probably nothing monumental. Sarawaks are separated from inland Borneos by a high mountain range & exhibit several unique traits. Their scales are far more pebbled than any of the other bloods or short-tailed's, giving them a texture more like that of an Angolan python. Sarawaks seem to mature at a shorter length than Borneos yet still attain considerable girth, and their pattern is more marbled in appearance with distinct stippling in the lateral scales that is mostly moderate on Borneos. Thus far my pair has been very active - spending quite a bit more time cruising and snuffling around their new enclosures than I've ever seen a blood or short-tailed do, but we'll see if this is a personality thing or just a settling in routine. Obviously we still have a lot of learning to do about Sarawaks, and rumor has it that there has been preliminary DNA work done to determine whether or not they're deserving of separate specific status.
I'll keep any interested parties privy to any information I come across in the mean time.

lol, I am a blood/STP nut and they sound awesome! Just my opinion, but I think the more active thing is probably just their personality, as my Borneo is much more active then any other blood/STP I've seen. Good luck with them, you are very lucky to be able to work with them
