Laredo-Zapata-Brownsville, Texas.

I'll be in these areas in the begining of August. Any tips on herping? I was there during the March break with no captures of any snake species, just a few road kill un-identified snakes and one sotry of "three black snakes near the water". Few geckos during the break though, and some HUGE spiders and centipedes.

Any tips would be great I'll be going to Brownsville area in hunt for the "Racer".

Did you ever go out into the brush when you were there? I would think that there would be lots of snakes. Rattlers, coral snakes, and colubrids out the wazzoo. Maybe I'm wrong thogh...

there are many ways you can do it! I am going out to pandale texas soon and i have heard the best way is road crusing but also go around the semi-brush areas and look for some good rocks and logs to flip over. the snakes you see near water could be watersnakes but i could be wrong, watersnakes are fast and mean! they will try to get away at any cost but if they dont be ready to put up a fight! good luck!
