Cool Pic of snake I found

My girlfriend and I were at the Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island doing the tourist thing and I spotted this little guy getting some sun. There was quite a lot of people passing by but the snake stayed there for at least 10 minutes. We seemed to be the only ones who even noticed it.

I think it's a common garter or maybe a northwestern garter. It was about 16-20 inches long.
