hey there, i am wondering what all you guys use to house kenyans, i have heard shavings, sand, dirt, and i wanna know the best thing so my soon to be snake can be healthy and on the right stuff.
basically you want something that doesn't hold much moisture, like rosys other sand boas don't need the extra moisture or humidity, small water dish once a week and your fine.
I use finely shredded aspen, beause it's easier for her to burrow into, doesn't retain heat or moisture, and is easy to clean. Also if she swallows a little bit of the finely shredded aspen, it's less likely to cause impaction.

I keep my pair in small rubbermaids with inch layer of "Beta Chip" which was recommended by Mr. Roy Stockwell and have had great success with it and 100% sheds every single time.
I house both of my adult pairs in 33 Gallon tanks with 50 watt heat bulbs and heat pads. 1 hot hide, 1 cool hide and I put a water dish in once a week for 24 hours. I use Childrens Play Sand as a substrate, but I always hand feed to protect against impactions. I'm no Stockwell but I have been producing baby sand boa's for 2 years now so I must be doing something right
