Question Introduction

hello,

I will soon have a new female leo and I wanted to know if it's best to add my 2 females to the males tank or vise versa?

I know I have to quarantine the new female but if I have to add the females to the male I will transfer my male to the 25gal tank right away.

Thanks!
SnowSnake

you can introduce one female at a time during breeding.

I would introduce one female into the males cage for a day or two then take her out and put the other female in his cage for a day or two also. that way you know when they breed and when to expect eggs. And your male isn't constantly breeding with your females therefore stress levels wont be to high.

I'll put them together in mid to late july so I don't expect them to breed. I want to add both females to the male and leave them like that year round (if everything goes right).

Yeah, you probably want to introduce all 3 to the cage at the same time, to reduce territorial issues.

I agree. Just remember to quarentine, (the minimum is 30 days, but I recommend 90 just to be sure). Make sure all geckos have been checked for worms, (If you don't think this is necessary check out DrewLowe's post, "This is what worms can do to a leo"). I've lost a gecko myself to worms just two weeks ago. Get them checked, quarentine them, make sure they are all fat and healthy, THEN see if they get along for a year-round living arrangement. I would introduce all the leos into a new enclosure (one that none of them have been staying in), or at least the male's enclosure. If you don't want them to breed then I suggest that males and females not be kept together. Good luck!
