he got out!

Happy my new jcp got out last night while I was watching a movie in the other room. I just went in to turn the light off and he wasn't anywhere in his cage! I took everything out and ripped all my other cages apart, then went with a flashlight behind them and in the closet, plus under my bed and dressers. I can't find him!! I don't know what to do. He's only like pencil thin and almost 2 feet long... where could he go? I put towels under every door, too. Where could a little snake like this hide?? Any and all information appreciated. Thanks to all those who help.

when was the last time he ate???

maybe you can put down a live pinky or fuzzy in the middle of the room in a tray or something to try and attract his attention???

I don't know.... just trying to give some ideas other then turning over the whole house.

With carpet pythons I would concentrate on looking up instead of down - when we have ours out they are always focused on going upwards and I think it fits with their tree loving nature. I would check anywhere that he might have gotten to by climbing. We have never had a carpet escape, but I have heard from others that they have found them in lampshades, on rafters and other high places. Good luck,

mary v.

Update!
I tore out my whole entire closet which is two 2-door closets connected... so it's like a 4 door closet all on one side of my room. I found nothing . I then stuffed the towels back under the doorways and took all the cages out of my room then did a total cleanup... nothing. I also checked the blinds and curtains and dumped out all my dresser and junk drawers, plus checked behind those areas. I even took the pictures off my walls! This hurts so much, I just got him and I can't find him anywhere . I really liked the little guy...

i could easily see a small snake getting through towels under a door. a towel would seem like a cozy hiding place for them. he could be watching you rip your house apart for all you know. try baiting him with heat water and food. try all three at once to better your chances. makes sense.

I'd leave it out untill I found the snake.......

I would of said to look upwards too, but since the little guy is so small I can't imagine him being able to get very high up. But check on top of book shelves, the fridge, cabinets, under the fridge.... mainly warm places..... I hope you find him, I'd be very P. O'd.

Good luck.

If you have clothes in those closets check the hangers under the shirts, ect. as well as the sleaves. And Jimi is right on the towels, will probably attract the snake as a hide.

Good luck!!

hey Rach, know what it is like to loose a snake that you love so much...i lost my IJ a few weeks back...he was lost for 3 weeks plus...the above suggestions are really good...i would add to the list of things to do to look at every warm place in the house you can think off...behind computers (which is where mine appeared), behind refridgerators (theres usually a big opening where the cooling unit is), in heating outlets, behind the heating unit in the home, corner lamps etc etc etc,,,you get the idea. don't forget to look up too...and give him a few weeks to come to his senses...i'm sure he'll turn up like mine did on his own. Good luck with the search...
