yes i belive it is a sign of mating. when my beardies go to mate the male will bite her on the neck a few times. but there is rarely any harm done to my female. but they do mate rather quickly so it will be very rare unless you are watching at all times to catch them in the act. I wouldn't worry to much unless he really starts to hurt her. Ex. drawing blood, or if you notice her not eating, things like that.
