green glowing silkworms

Thought people might be interested in this. My brother's studying bio-tech and he showed me a book that says how to make a silkworm glow green. I tried reading it and didn't understand it at all. They're called transgenic insects and I think you put a jellyfish gene into the silkworm's dna when it's an embryo. In case anyone's interested the book is called "Green Fluorescent Protein: Applications and Protocols", however, I don't recommend it if you're like me and don't know much about biology. I don't know if this is cruel or not (ie. if it suffers or has other bad side-effects). One problem I could think of is it won't survive too well in nature if it's glowing!

There's also a chapter on zebrafish. I'm thinking, that zebrafish of mine that magically disappeared last month might have been taken by my brother and brought to the lab!
