I have offered rats as i would a mouse and have never encountered any problems getting them to switch over.
Some say i'm lucky. I always feed f/t rats that are thawed in hot water. I put the rat in the water and it soaks up water while thawing. Makes it easier to swallow. They seen to enjoy it.

Most of the time the switch will happen without any problems. If you have a picky eater sometimes it helps to scent a rat with a mouse. (Rub the mouse on the rat)
Be persistent, eventually your snake should take a rat.

often with a picky feeder we'll feed a small mouse to get the snake in feeding mode followed with a small rat item. eventually you can ditch the mouse and just run with the mouse.
