Post New herp plz Help me

OK, I have a rough green snake and a green iguana that I both bought on an impulse, which I know now never to do. But I do love both my animals very much. I'm about to get another herp a snake or a lizard, I'm not sure thats why I made this post I'm almost ready to buy a ball python or a black rat snake but I'm not sure if their the snake for me. So let me tell you a little bit about myself and my life style and then hopefully you can decide what kinda of herp I should get. I ask that you reply a snake and a lizars/amphib choice please. Well, I don't have alot of time to spend on the repts, I always keep them clean and stuff though I have enough time just not alot. I love to hold them and watch them becuase I dont usually get home until late, so I need something thats does't need to be handled alot but likes it and wont bite my hand off if I try. I dont care the colors or anything like that but I don't wan't any snake that will get bigger then 8ft or a lizard that will get bigger then 2ft. I also want it to be pretty easy to care for but thats not that important. I hope this help if you need any other info just tell me.

ball pythons and black rats are both very good snakes. But, with a rough green and an iguana, then you saying you dont have alot of time Im not sure another is right. Then also you mentioned no lizard over 2ft, you do know your ig will get 4-6ft?? and a black rat has the potential to get 8ft, but its rare.

Im not sure a 6ft Black rat is so rare, they are the biggest elaphe if Im correct. Its rare to come across a black rat, let alone any snake here, and when i did, it was well over 5ft probably 6 or 7. Id make sure you can care for the ig before you get another, trust me i know. I was like that too until i learned my lesson.now im getting into fish and have decided to hold off on them due to a posibility of moving, and also the fact that i know very little about them.

Dont buy a herp if you cant provide what its requirments are. If you do get a lizard, be ready to clean out the cage once a week or sooner. Feeding crix can be expensive, I spend 4 bux out of my lunch money every other day for crix. They eat a lot and poop a lot. Be sure you can keep the cages CLEAN and feed them often. Im not trying to tell you not to get a lizard but just trying to let you know, you may be running to petsmart every other day if you cant keep crix or whatever in bulk. With a snake, if you dont hold them a lot, they will get nippy (Due to my knowledge/Exp). Good luck on your new herp, just make sure u have the money/time for one. Seems to me u have enough for ur lifestyle.

thEmAdhaTtEr is right.... Any reptile could get nippy if you don't pay attention to it not saying that you wont pay attention to it. But i think if i was you i would look into getting a ball python for a snake or a Uromastyx for a lizard. They both are quite easy to care for if you know what you are doing and they don't get to be monsters in size. But if you dont have the time for them don't get them. Put it this way if you got a dog and only payed attention to it once in a while it would not really get to know you. And you would not really get to know it so with that you would never really know if that dog would bite you or not and i think that it is the same with a reptile. You say that your iggy is nasty but with the time and attention it would tame down but with out the attention it will always be a nasty iggy. So with this i hope that if you get a new herp that you will find the time to give it the attention that it need's and provide it with everything it need's to stay a healthy reptile good luck.

Rough green snakes are too delicate to be handled other than for cleaning. The rough green will probably get less stressed if you handle it less. In my opinion, they are strictly display snakes. You also said it was bad to buy animals on impulse but you already stated you are getting another snake. Enjoy what you've got and do you best with the time you have. It sounds like your lifestyle is not fit to care for any more herps properly, therefore, don't get anymore. As for a lizard you can handle, a leopard gecko is about all I'd recommend for you although I really wouldn't even recommend that given what I have read from you so far. but they are hardy, relatively easy to care for and tame easily, and also don't mind if you don't have time to handle them for a few days. However, if you don't have time to handle them, you probably don't have time to feed them either so.....
