New Snake Suggestions?

LOL Think I've started enough new threads? lol

Anyways, I've been contemplating getting a new snake. But I like WAY too many.

I don't really have any preferance. It can be small-medium sized. I don't want something as large as a Burm or Retic or Anaconda lol.

I have a habit of liking the earth toned snakes. I'm wondering if this time I should buy a flashier one.

Anyways, all I'd like is a docile not-huge snake. LOL

So any suggestions and the reason for those suggestions would be awesome

African House Snake! They come in black, brown, red and sometimes you can even find an olive one. If those aren't earthtones, I don't know what is, LOL. They are small snakes that look more like a boid with their vertical slit pupils, but at the moment they are listed as a colubrid. An adult AHS won't eat anything bigger than an adult mouse, but will eat ANYTHING that will fit in it's mouth: Bats, rats, lizards, frogs, birds and other snakes! hehehe Hence the name 'house snake' because they eat the vermin and other small venomous snakes Check your PM's for more info.

I suggest a corn snake I know what your thinking a colobrid but they have a earth toned bright red color thats very beutiful and their easy to care for they dont get to big only 7' they are very good snake and i think it would be perfect for you i strongly recomend this for you i think you would love one if you do not already own one in which case i now feel like an idiot.

boas are good to get columbians are nice and they stay about 7 feet on average usually and they are very tame
if your interested in any i have some for sale that have been tamed down

You need to get yourself a nice colorful milk snake like a Honduran or a Pueblan. Even an Albino Nelsoni if you got the cash.

If you want a boid that stays small is easy to take care of and is dosile(starts to limit the options a bit)I could only add rosy boa(lady dragon already beat me to ahs) Columbians can stay small but there is much to much chance they will become large.Columbians do have good temperment for the most part but they will bite you from time to time(like most snakes) and are very powerful(I can't stress enough how strong a full grown Boa Constrictor can be) I would keep my eye on the snake classified's (were all posts for snakes for sale should be posted) from time to time Rosy boas pop up as do african house snakes. I hope you find what you are looking for.

I still say the best new snake for you would be a corn they come in many diffrient morphs you should deffinately check it out I'm telling you, you would love one.

Sumatran Blood python won't usually get larger than maybe 7 feet but can get enormous in girth. Several color morphs are available http://www.a1pythons.com/blood.htm

I'll go with Nightcrawling in that if you don't already own a corn, they are great snakes, Those were my first snakes and still one of my favorites. They come in uncountable colours and patterns, are easy to take care of, readily take f/t mice and/or rats and stay a nice managable size (3.5- 4 feet).

@Nightcrawler, I don't know where you saw a 7' corn but I think the largest Ive ever heard of was just over 6' and that size is VERY rare. You can except about 4 feet, give or take a few inches

Also Mary made a good suggestion with the Irian Jaya Carpets, they get a nice 4-5 feet, stay slender and are probably the most docile and most managable carpets which are awsome display animals and just fasinating to watch and great to handle!

My corn is 5'6'' a very nice female that will eat small rats and almost got one of my sisters newborn kitten but i caught it before it lunged. You will have to get a very secure lid for your corn cuz they are very strong and will push the lid open.

Hog Island Boa! Still a BCI but a smaller locale and they have some awesome coloring!

I got 7' off a carsheet somewhere, but in the wild they get that big. But, Tinytim is way right you have to have a pretty strong enclosure rubbermaids work really well becuase they have a built in locking system. As long as you remember to lock it all the way you have nothing to worry about. GET A CORN!!!!!!!
