Question my friends pinktoe

My friend went on vacation and I told him I'll take care of his(well, actually mine since I bought it for him) pinktoe and its not webbing for him and he also has his in a 10 gal as mine does he as alot of stuff in their kinda. He has two fake plants a stump and two thick sticks in their, he was jealous because mine made alot of webbing and his didnt but its eating great so its not gonna molt.without me having to buy anything extra is their anything I could get like from the backyard or something that'll get his in a webbing mood?

Lean something up against the side of the tank on an angle (I usually use corkbark bought from the pet store... I wouldnt use something out of the back yard because there is no telling what kind of fungus or parasites may be on it). This seems to give them an anchor to base their web on.

My Avics didnt web until about a week before they molted though.
