Silkworm diet

Since silkworms are so good for your reptiles i was wondering if they could be a balanced diet for my bearded dragons and leopard gecko? Also, would baby bearded dragons be able to eat silks (.5" ones)?

I am not to sure that they could be a staple but I know that they love them hehe mine do, just because of the protien lvl in them might not be the best for them all the time so I would stick to having them as treats .As for feeding babies them I dont really think it would hurt just not a bunch hope it helps my 2 cents AL

They are an excellent food for babies because they are soft-bodied and don't pose an impaction risk. I've never tried them as a staple because they only eat mulberry leaves and so you can't really gutload them but if you offered a balanced salad to give them their vitamins and minerals I don't see why you couldn't.

If your babies aren't into salads yet, I think it's best to stick with crix because they gutload beautifully.

It is best to always offer variety, so as to maintain a balanced diet. They are good for the staple, but be sure to add crix, waxies, supers, mealies and anything else that they seem to enjoy.
