Are people stupid?

I've seen a couple recent posts with that picture of a chewed up Ball Python which they claim is that way because they fed it live prey. I'm not saying I agree with feeding live prey, but the snake did not get that badly torn up for that reason. It got chewed up to that extent because the owner was a IDIOT and had no concern for his snake at all.

It is possible for your snake to get torn up a bit especially if you don't stun or kill the rodent ahead of time. That's obvious. But, if you're going to feed live prey then make sure you are there watching the ENTIRE time. Don't turn your back until it's dead. PERIOD! You know there is risk involved. Don't be a moron. I think whoever let that happen needs to be shot in the face. Thanks!~

Relax, we are all aware of the reprecussions of feeding live and I think most of our opinions on the subject are clear, so swearing like that won't help anything.

also, i dont think it matters. an extensive bite or a little bite. a bite is a bite and no matter the size they can be deadly. cause those mice can chomp.

Yup I am one of the stupid people!!!!(I do feed only frozen thawed to my boa's)But I do lots of other bone headed stuff(not when my snakes are conserned though)I guess it is just from lack of knowledge that I do stupid things.Frozen thawed is the only way to go for sure

yes, alot of folks are stupid, a lot more are sheep. But it is posts like this pic that try to HELP lessen that, I occassionally will feed live to venomous or for the snake that has gone off feeding for no reason, never had a single snake injured. There are ways to communicate ideas, opinions, and thoughts that are not revolting to intelligent beings and not insulting to others as well, try them .

I believe that while feeding is live is a hugely bad idea, and I won't do it unless I HAVE to, the risks are minimal if I use a young prey item (or stunned) and am there to observe at all times.

I have fed one female CRB a couple live sub-adult mice (succesfull!) and she now readily takes f/t rats. I was so worried when I did it, I sat there staring at her, ready to dive in and save her! lol, I'm surprised she ate with me watching like that :]

Yeah, your right about feeding live. It is very bad, but you don't have to go saying people need there face shot. Relax he/she made a BIG mistake it happens. We're here to give advice not shoot peoples face off.

Agreed, it just spreads anger. People need to be taught, not everyone is born with all the knowledge in the world. Those who refuse to learn and accept the safest truths for their herps, probably won't respond to threats or insults either.

Education is the key

I am going to admit to being a bit offended by the language but also by the pic. My youngest often sits in my lap when I'm on-line. While he can't read he can see. I'm a beginning herper & new to pc's also. I did not expect that pic. It upset my little fellow to see a snake that way as he adores our corns. I was quite a while calming him. I'm glad the language was edited and I think I'll stay away from pics that aren't clearly labeled. I'm glad I know what can happen but you know what ? As a beginner it never occured to me to feed anything besides f/t sold at local shops !
