dwarf tegus info

Hi, I am using Burmese's name this is his wife. I would like any information and help on chilean dwarf tegus. I have read books and searched the internet but little seems to be known. All I can find out is they love warm temperatures and burrowing. Any info would be appreciated, I do know my girl is healthy(says the vet) and eats well. She is also tame, buy tegus standards. I just got a golden tegus from the pet store today that has gotten it's tail pinched off they said it will grow back the books say a simular thing, will it grow back? Either way it don't matterr I just had to rescue it. My husband said to ask on the site because if it's not a snake it's my department.
Thank you in advance Sherri :w

Country:
I have a Tegu with a regrowing tail. About half way down. It will grow back. C.maculatus reaches 19 inches. Adapts well to weather and temp. extremes. THEY are found up to elevations of 1500 ft in the Andes. Basking temp of 100 f to 105 f. The rest of the cage should be in the range of 85 to 90 f. Nighttime temps can be droped radically. When frightened they can run bipedally. Successful breeding in captivity is rare.

Referenced from: Monitors, Tegus, and Related Lizards. A Complete Pet Owner's Manual. Bartlett and Bartlett. Barron's Publications.

Hope this helps!Tim
