This is our male Noodle. He was a rescue through the local herp club and had several broken ribs, so he has a big kink at mid body, but it hasn't slowed down his growth or feeding. Great snake - very gentle - they are such a nice species.

Mex blacks are totally great. I think they will be more popular this year.

Here's a nice pic of Purity, my one and only mex black. Black and white photo.

It's interesting to see all the response. In the U.S. they'd become less appreciated. However, I am seeing a slightly renewed interest in them lately. People who aren't fans probably have never held one! Of course not all are pure ink black, but breeders have selectively bred most of the color and pattern out. I have some that will actually have spots of red on the belly when hatched. Most only have 2 dots of white on the chin. My first sellable clutch of babies from c.b. was nigrita.

I wanted one as my first snake, but "wasn't" allowed to have any at the time.

We'll you guys have convinced me that my impulse buy was a good one! I just picked up a 2002 female at the Richmond Show. 1st king since I was a kid (caught eastern chains around the house). I've been really focusing on asian rats lately, but I couldn't pass up this solid black for 25.00 end of show price. She even ate 3 pinks the first night- I had extras and figured I'd give them to her. I'll post picks once she gets good and settled...
Any tips you'd care to pass along on getting her as big as yours would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Lora

Sorry for the delay in posting. Raul took his first ever 2 fuzzy meal on Wednesday so I didn't want to disturb him for a few days while he digested just so I could snap a few pics.

My photography sucks, he actually does have a head.

I have one but no camera. I traded an old Dodge pick-up for it! So it's name is Dodge. He is growing fast and is slightly over two feet now. Very awsome snake. I wonder if you could get albinos or hypos? I have never heard of them but imagine what they would look like.

Have always thought about that Tim. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
