Tub size for rats and mice

I have some tubs that I really like to use and I want to use them if possible to breed mice/rats in. The dimensions are 33"Lx12"Dx6"H. Would this be suitable to use and how many rats or mice could I run? I'm looking to produce a fair amount of mice and rats.

You could run about 1.5 rats in there. As for mice, that definitely will hold a lot of mice... you could easily run 1.10 with no worries of crowding (I like to give mice more room since they are more prone to eat their babies from stress).

Thanks for the help. Another question I have is that the bins have a small ledge(1/4 max) about 3" from the bottom. Is there a big chance the mice/rats would chew through? Any bins you would suggest?
Thanks

Give mice or rats anything to chew on and yes they will chew through it.

Yup... as Syst3m said... they will chew on them sooner or later. I run colonies of 1.3 in the jumbo kitty litter pans (situated in a rack)... no ledges to chew on... they work great. If you wanted to go larger there are always metal wash tubs and troughs that you can buy at the farm supply.

to cut down on chewing we toss a scrap block of wood in the cage/bin.
