Albino shedding question

I had a nice little surprise when I got up this morning, Shayou had shed!

My question is, how the heck do you see a shed coming in an albino???!!! I've been handling her regularly and didn't see any signs. I thought that her tail wasn't as bright as usual but it was very subtle. I wasn't sure if I was noticing something for real or just imagining it! lol!!!

Is it just tougher to see when they are young and small? Or will it always be hard to tell? I knew it would be coming sooner or later by timing but otherwise I didn't know! I wish I could have something to let me know!!! Oh well, it's not the end of the world!

Another question while I'm at it, why don't any of my boas use their moist hides? All of their setups have a water dish on both ends cool and warm as well as a moist hide box. I've never seen any of them use it? And they are being used as the paper towels are all still as I placed them. I'm not concerned as none of them seem to have shedding problems, I just find it peculiar. All my other snakes use their moist hides and just the boas don't!

Well pixie that is a testement to your excellent husbandry practices .Thusly your boa's have enough humidity proper temps and a proper body fluid level to promote good sheds.Sounds like you are doing an awesome job good for you (even better for your boa's)It is nice to hear about great shedding boa's how about a pic or two some time there pixie?

pixie your albino boa well look very dull when going into shed usally they are bright so this is the signs i see when my female albino boa sheds 1 peice sheds 3 so far congrats again on your new albino's.

The only thing I can really notice (this time anyhow) was that her tail markings seemed washed out. Since I haven't had her for very long, I couldn't remember if her tail was brighter than it was or if it was just me!!! At least I know I'm not going crazy now! lol

I really didn't notice much change in her color body-wise. Now that's she's shed she is definitely nice and bright but it's hard telling just by that. I saw no clouding over of the eyes whatsoever and I handle ever a few minutes each day except right after feeding. I get to see her all the time as she's set up just behind me at my computer Oh well, I'll try to look more closely in 3-4 weeks!

Pixie, when the Albino's are young it is a little difficult to tell, it will be more apparent as they are older and larger. Usually the best way to tell is by the tail and the eyes, it will get opague and then clear up when it's about to shed. Hope that helps
