Please answer this question
I have a garter that is larger than my black rat, is it safe to put them together. i also plan to get a corn that may be twice the size of the garter...would all three be fine together in a large cage???
and if the rat snake was bigger than the garter would they be safe to put together then? (this one is just for my knowledge)

It's not good to put different species together due to natural bacterias carried by each. Spring for a dedicated cage.

Nope it isn't. None of those snakes have the same care requirements, and also I believe those snakes will eat other snakes, even if they have similar sizes.
So NO, definitely don't do it. Spring for the extra cage and setup or you'll end up with two sick snakes.

Don't put them together. If you can't afford cages for each one, you can't afford that many snakes. There are various reasons why you shouldn’t house snakes together. There are even more reasons if they aren't even the same species. A few reasons being....
A) Stress
B) Care requirements
C) They aren't social animals
D) The spread of bacteria or mites and ticks and etc
E) Cannibalism
There are more reasons, but I just wanted to list a few for you.
When it boils down to it, if you want 3 snakes, buy 3 cages.

thanks for helping, are corns and rats considered different species, considering that they are both elaphe?
and what is the biggest snake you guys would put in a 5'x2'x3' high cage?

Most BCIs don't grow to 10 feet. A male who is fed normally (not power fed) will grow to 6 or 7 feet, and a female will grow to 6 to 8 ft.
