Wink PIcs/ quick how to of my rack..

Alright .. This is my first rack ever .. My dellema was building something that looked nice .. I HATE the melanine look ..

So after lots of shopping for containers I decided on building a rack with the blueish/clear containers.. something I could see inside wiht a flashlight but if i walked in front, it would not disturb the snakes..

Heres some of the containers .. and other things like dimers and other crap..

So heres is my dellema .. I wanted to build a rack with 25 small shobox size.. 8 large shobox size and 4 large cages.. so I search for containers with similar dimensions that would work close enough .. the problem is they were not perfect wich meant I had to build little slides with wood to make sure they always fit perfectly .. word of advise.. its WAY WAY easyer to build a rack with all the same size containers..

Here's what it looks like half way done - its upside down .. easier to built this way..

As for heating .. I am using heat rope I got from PCPC .. its 80 watts, 28 feet of heating (I have 3 in there) .. Works great .. just not sure for how long it will last.. hope fully a few years..

I simply used a router .. digged 2 chanels for the shoe boxes.. and 3 for the large ones on the bottom and covered it with silicone.. works GREAT.. i have a temp gradient of 18 degrees in the small shoe box.. I am very impressed with the heat cable..

And after putting wheels and the finishing wood.. the heat cable and such this is what it looks like..

side view.. (the ones with the wittish color are simply filled with humidity .. new mulch..)

The wood used was a beech finish .. its 45 inches wide.. 17 inches deep and hmm almost 60 inches high..

Tx for looking

Nice work Dom! I would have loved to make a rack that doesn't require me to use lids on my bins, but with 3 kids under the age of 4, that's not a great idea for me just yet!

Thanks for the pics bro!

Tx Whitewolf ..

Bryce.. I have never used heat tape so can't comment on it but the heat rope is about 50-60$ give or take (2$/foot) .. depends where u get it..

Its easy to use // cheaper then heat tape.. all ready to go .. no electrical BS but U CAN"T CUT it... wich means u need t o have excacly the right amount.. or need to make it fit for you..

I personally think it worked out great..
