There is alot of confusion behind this whole P. Curtus species with ppl who dont know much about them....
Heres the facts...
There are 3 ssp...Malaysian Blood python , borneo short tail python and the Sumatran "black" short tailed python...
A lot of ppl sell them as "blood pythons", no matter which sub species it is....however there is a fairly big difference between the three, but a little bit harder with the Borneo and Sumatran...
The true Blood python usually occurs in a red colouration (hint: the name) although not all are BLOOD red, maybe even most arn't, at least in Canada that is.....
Most Bloods look like this...
Where as the borneo, usually has a yellow'er <-

head with earthy tones along the body and sometimes with some white and yellow markings...kinda like this...
And then theres the Sumatran "black" which as a hatchling usually is black with some silveryyy<-

greyish markings...something like this....
Now the blood python can come in four or so colour variations... being red, yellow, orange and brown...being the dominate colour...heres my yellow female..
I Cant stress how much confusion there is with this species, if u look at the KS.com classifieds...they got bloods as borneos, borneos as red bloods, blacks as bloods and a whole lotta different combos...its hilarious and enough to confuse anybody...
In Canada, most ppl (at least with P. Curtus) are fairly smart at representing there snakes, so u probably have a true blood of one of the four variations...most likely like the first two pics above...u really cant miss it....if ur still unsure, try getting a pic and i'm sure we can help u out....
Anyways, hope i've been of some help!
Feel free to ask any questions....the more and more i work with this group the less i am interested with the rest of the snakes in this world...and i sometimes jonse (sp??) to talk about em'!!!
Oh yeah, one more thing....True red bloods occur mostly in malaysia but there is a small local located in Sumatra (Probably confusing u even more!) lol
As far as i know, there is no way of telling the two locals apart...not even by scalation....but many ppl sell them as sumatran locales, because there is a rumor going around that the malaysians are nastier....ooops...did i confuse u even more! lol
Congrats, and welcome to a new world of snakes!
