Frilled Lizard

Today I purchased a frilled lizard and am really excited about finally owning one. I am looking for cool stories, or unique care tips about these guys!

Thanks.

Dan

yeah I checked out the pages on Frills and it really didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.

Leo-Land- You should get one, they are expensive to start off with, but if you already have a 20 gallon to raise them in, it'll giveyou time to save money and then you get an enormous cage for when they are adults. I have an old iguana cage 3' long X 3' wide X 6' tall for my frilled when she's older. Thanks for the post!

I payed for her today, and am planning to pick her up within the next week. But as soon as she is settled in, I would be more than happy to provide pics for you all! But I am still looking for some interesting stories people have about them...

-Dan

P.S. I handled the one I bought today, and she was more tame than most beardies. So go figure!

Well most of the ones in the tank, including the one I bought, had no problems at all being handled. I have heard people say, including someone today that they are comparable to bearded dragons for temperment. (as I mentioned in the above post)

If you have the funds, I highly recommed one. They are interesting captives forsure. If you any questions, I would be more than happy to help!

I have a pair on hold that I am purchasing when they are able to be sexed as far as temperment goes. They are very docile, EXACTLY like beardies BTW Tabastifur, how much did you pay?

Kyle,

I payed 350 cash for mine. You should see the cage I have for her when she's an adult. I will post pics when it's all decorated.
How much did you pay for yours? And where are you buying them from?

-Dan

p.s. it is better, when you're getting a pair, to get them from two different blood lines. Keep that in mind(unless you already are)

I saw CB babies for $125 at the Tampa Herp show back in March. I was holding it and was VERY VERY close to buying it. I just knew that I didn't have enough to get all it needs if I spent $125 on it. So I bought what I came there for, my Uromastyx. He's pretty cool, and will be quite tame after I hold him enough. He's getting a lot better, but he still tries to jump away from me.

In my experience, Frilleds tend to be more high strung and flighty than Bearded Dragons, at least at first.

Males tend to have more laid-back temperaments. They don't show much agression towards people, but their feeding response is strong and they're both agile and quick, so you need to respect them when they're bigger, or they'll tear you up by accident.

Bryce,

I don't have a link off hand, but if you were to just search something like, "Frilled Dragon Care," I am sure you would find lots of stuff. Or if you have any questions about care, just ask.

Thanks for all of your posts,

-Dan
