scanning pets
As more and more people want to post pictures of their pets/reptiles on the internet, I am noticing more and more "scanned photos" on the forums. (all over the net not just this forum)
I for one think this is cruel. Have you ever put your face with your eyes open on the scanner? It was so bright when I tried it I couldn't hold my own eyes open. I can't imagine putting one of my snakes or other reptiles on this thing and holding them flat.
I am wrong and it just doesn't hurt them? What are everyone elses thoughts about this? It really bugs me when I see it.

Maybe all scanners don't use bright lights? My roomates has a bright light that goes by. I guess maybe they don't all have those????

Yeah but even there you are at least holding the animal bottom down.
I have seen people that are holding them face down to get a top view. But I feel better knowing some don't have as bright lights as others! thanks.

Oh, no I'd never point my snake into the scanner to get a view of it's face.
When I scanned those, I tried to take them off when it was finished scanning the vent anyway, because though scanning them may not kill them, it probably isn't good for em! :]

heh. I wouldn't think so! That's why I asked.
There is actually a site devoted to scanned cats. Its weird. People send in their scanned cat photos. They have like TONS now.

Hmmm I don't know about everyone else but I tend to not stick my head in places where bright, blinding lights are shined at me... so I really wouldn't know about the scanner! lol! But I could only imagine, seeing as I was so stupid enough as to shine the lazer scanner from work into my eye... Only AFTERwards did I read all the warnings, but I'm sure on a scanner there would be warnings of the same nature... I'm not sure how fair it is to disregard these warnings for animals!! Oh well, that bonsai kitten site is obviously a joke, lol, they wouldn't get away with that in a million years.

My father-in-law has a scanner that he just picks up and uses as a camera...it's lightweight and acts more like a camera than a scanner I suppose. Uses external light if option chosen...I don't know what kind of scanner it is but maybe some people are using those?
Personally, I have the bright light!!

That Kitty-Bonsai thing is cruel and inhumane...Did you click the bottom one? They wont show it cuz they prolly rip the thing half open. Someone needs to knock some serious sense into these people...Whats wrong with them.

Nothing is wrong with them. Its a joke to envoke the response you just gave.
And unless you are partially blind, its easy to see its a joke. My cat sleeps in things like that on her own free will in any case.
