Butter corn photos
Caught up on getting photos of the guys this weekend and have a few of my butter corn to share. He was supposed to be a male and I am getting him probed to confirm later this month, but the tail shape is looking kind of feminine. He will be 2 years old this spring. There are photos of the tail in my gallery if anyone wants to venture a guess on the sex. Just thought I would post a few shots of him - the yellow is really starting to come in now.

Great, now I have to try and find a butter corn, I almost wish people wouldn't post pics of their animals this is getting expensive.

As for the sex, tough call. If I had to guess, I'd say male, but it's so much easier to actually see the animal...

Thanks for the kind words and to Cranwill for the best guess on sex. Hope to have him probed next weekend - he is a tough call on tail alone. I sort of hope it is a male, but either way - nice snake,

Well, a friend (many thanks to Neil Weldon, Snakey Acres) did the probing for me on this one, as well as a group of corns last night and this butter is actually a girl. The tail shape was kind of suggestive in taper, but was long so it was a hard one to be sure about from photos.
Of the eight corns that were probed, four that were sold to me as one sex were actually the opposite. Popping and probing are really only as reliable as the person doing it - often males are mistaken for females and sometimes it is the other way around. So I will have a group of very nice, health male corns for sale at the upcoming Edmonton show!!
