Tokay Gecko

i was in the pet shop the other day, checking out some tokays. i've always like gecko's, especially the more exotic looking ones, like the leopard and tokay geckos.

anyways, a few of the tokays i saw were gray in color, which i though was very cool. i asked the clerk if the gray color was like a juvenile stage or something, and he said that they change color sometimes.

is this true, or bs?

so they do change colors!! cool...

but does that mean that if i buy a green tokay, he might turn gray, or that there are just gray variations of the normal green tokays?

There are a lot of variations on tokays...from greenish, to greyish, to blueish. They will change color from night/day (slightly) and with stress.
But overall, if for example you buy a nice blue animal, it will usually be blue.

the main change is usually a darker/lighter variation of what they originally were, in my experience

Most geckos I have seen are colour changers... One of my mourning geckos was out during the day, and he was all darky brown, but at night, he was lke a super bright cream coloured...
lol
Tokays are neat geckos, from what I've seen...
and fun to get bitten by!
lol

I love Tokay's as soon as I get a female I'm going to breed them again. I can't honestly say I've had the same experiances. mine has never even tried to bite me. You can pet him under the chin! But I definatly would suggest it with most Tokay's. When he gets moved he gets dark. But other then that I've never seen him change color. Tokay's are my favorite gecko!!! Sorry about the pic my camera isn't that good no wait the battery light is flashing........oops!
