Please help

Hi I'm new to this club but I thought someone here might b able to help me. I'd really appreciate it. So I found a California king snake about 2 months ago out in the middle of the road. It didn't appear to have been ran over but it did have some injuries. It looked more like a bird or possibly a cat had tried to get him but failed in the end. The worst of his wounds had part of an internal organ exposed but no bleeding. I wanted to help it out but after calling all the vets around me none do wild snakes. So I took it home and set him up in a 60 gallon tank I had. I soaked him twice a day in a solution of betadine and water for about 3 1/2 weeks. All his cuts had healed except the big one. From experience working with other animals I decided to put the "inside piece" back inside and glue it closed with suture glue. It's now healed completely and he's eating very well. He's about 2 feet long n as big around as a quarter. I've only fed him frozen pinkie mice due to me not wanting him to stretch the newly healed skin to big n open any wounds again. But now he's starting to rub his nose on the top of the tank and so much that it's now raw and pink. So shud I b feeding him more or more often? Possibly bigger prey? Once the weather gets better I'll b setting him free again but right now there's over a foot of snow on the ground n I don't think it's a good time just yet. Any advice or help wud b greatly appreciated. Thanks so much
