Dekay brown snake enclosure

What is the proper setup for a dekay brown snake.l? Do they need heat lights or heat lamps?

Re: Dekay brown snake enclosure

The proper enclosure will be a tank/tub that is half full of dirt. Add a water dish. Add a layer of leaves on top of the dirt that is about a half inch to an inch deep. On top of the leaves, add some cork bark flats (or something similar). An under tank heater can be used to raise the temperature of the soil on one side of the enclosure and a heat lamp controlled by a thermostat can be used to create a basking spot that creates a spot with a surface temperature of 85 to 90 F. Make sure the lid is escape proof, like on one of the purpose-built reptile cages with integrated screen lids.

Thanks. I am new to owning a snake and there was conflicting information I was finding on the internet.

One more question: how often do they eat?

I believe they have rather high metabolisms and need to eat every three days or so. Adding earthworms and isopods to the enclosure should help as the snake will eat those in between regular feedings.
