Snake cage

im about to build a new cage for my boa, my main question is what material? i dont have a seperate room to keep her in so i cant set the room temp to like 85 and leave it i have to rely on a heat lamp and 2 pads, so whats the best material to still have heatpads that are effective from the bottom? cause i dont imagine i could put them inside of her cage

Re: Snake cage

I suggest expanded PVC as the best material for cages. It's easy to work with, and won't swell and deteriorate like wood. However, a heat pad under a cage, whether wood or PVC, is a very inefficient method of heating. The material is just too thick.
You should take a look at radiant heat panels. They are mounted to the inside top of the cage, but aren't hot enough for the snake to burn itself. A thermostat should be used also.
