I am building a ply wood enclosure for one of my ball pythons. I am going to be using a CHE in the cage, and I need to know where can you buy the plastic protectors to go around the bulb?
ive looked but I recall someone building them on here ( I use to be a member years ago )
I believe the che cages are coated steel. They are relatively inexpensive and mount to your fixture.
If I were going to attempt to make my own then I'd look at using hardware cloth or perhaps a wire mesh trash can. You need something big enough to not get too hot but with small enough holes that your snake can't sneak in. I'd use metal as the surface temperature of a che easily runs higher than 400 F.
