Humidity levels for live tank

Hi I have a Mexican black king snake, I have a big tank for him with live plants and soil. Today though I noticed my humidity levels are not where there suppose to be. He does have a big bowl filled with water on the cool side, and I do mist in the morning and night, my routine use to work but now its not and I don't know why.

What are your humidity levels? Kings don't require high humidity, so you're probably fine.

That's actually not bad for a King. I've always kept my Kings in the 30s but dips into the high 20s aren't uncommon in fall and winter. Never had any problems through the years.

Does the tank have a screen top? If so you can cover the majority to keep humidity in.

Is it getting cold where you live? Heating equipment as well as household heaters can really zap humidity. Once I have to turn the heat on in my house I have to tweak all my enclosures because the humidity drops.

Covering the screen tops goes a long way. I also add a second water bowl in my enclosures to help raise the humidity this time of year.

Fortunately Kings are very hardy and aren't nearly as affected by humidity as many other species of snake. They're a very forgiving species to work with.

Aha! I knew it! I'm in MA, so our weather is very similar and unusually cold the past week or two.

I think just a few minor adjustments and you'll be good to go for the winter.

Good luck, don't be shy if you have more questions!
