Open-Top Snake Enclosure

Playing around with a concept. Who would be scared to house a hognose is a setup like this? The snake would be able to reach the top, but barely, so a lip would restrict them from getting over the edge.

Re: Open-Top Snake Enclosure

I wouldn't trust any open top enclosure for any snake.

Re: Open-Top Snake Enclosure

If I understand correctly, your design does not include a secure lid.
That being the case, expect your snake to escape the first day.

Re: Open-Top Snake Enclosure

Unless you properly secure the enclosure your snake WILL escape. Probably day one.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if that's a serious question you've got a lot of research to do before bringing a snake home.

Hognose can be very tricky little snakes too, probably not a good idea for a first snake.

I would be very scared to house a snake in that.
Snakes have this seemingly magical ability to find and use even small holes–so even if it were a short snake, it would find a way to climb around the lip.

Re: Open-Top Snake Enclosure

Thanks for the replies. No worries, I've had plenty of snakes. I meant to say the snake WOULDN'T be able to reach the top (obviously if the snake could reach the top he'd escape).

Re: Open-Top Snake Enclosure

Is there a reason for wanting an open-topped enclosure?
